Have only just started taking a look at it myself, so can't really comment on its actual usefulness at this stage. But it does look quite intriguing as far as cross-platform development goes. And they do seem to have an active forum community going on there, too: https://forum.xojo.com

Anyhow, which Dean do you refer to? MadDogDean or RizlaUK. I speak with MadDogDean regularly, however I kind of lost touch with Riz unfortunately.

Was actually referring to Riz. Always enjoyed his banter and especially dug his wicked, wry humour. Besides which, his code contribution to this community was enormous. I remember him having some domestic woes back around 2011/2012 which saddened me to hear. Though, he always struck me as the sort of bloke who'd land on his feet, no matter what. I guess his kids would almost be teenagers now, so I'd imagine that whatever he's doing, he'll have his hands full!

Never had much interaction with MadDogDean, though his avatar is impossible to forget!

There is one RAD software for web development that's kinda along the lines of AMS. And that's 'WYSIWYG Web Builder'. Despite its amateurish-sounding name, it's actually very good, IMO. Although it was originally designed for website development, I believe it's now possible to do mobile-apps with it. More info in regards to that: here

Ahough I've never personally looked into the mobile-apps aspect of it, I can tell you that for general web-dev, it's does have a mentality similar to AMS. Has been around for many years (currently in version 14), has a large community forum with many user-developed extensions/addons available. Might be worth checking out, anyway. here

Great Software and its a good base to be transformed or upgraded to the next level for building apps like mobile.

Do you recommend a software that can build apps for mobile with a mentality similar to AMS ?

Hi Sameer, I think you would like Cordova, which allows you to create apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript. There are plenty plugins available that allow you to access the device's sensors, bluetooth connections and more. Combine this with something like Ionic or Visual Studio and you'll be able to make cool apps without a too complex programming language.

Cheers too, for the offer of help with 'duplicates' algos. At this stage, I already have several algos for removing duplicates from tables which I've managed to successfully adapt to my needs. They can be a touch difficult to understand though - so that offer for help might just come back to haunt you - LOL!

Nice! I think it's awesome that people are still using AMS, sharing their ideas and learning in the progress. It's a shame this product hasn't been transformed into something modern, AMS for Web, mobile and software sounds interesting.

Well, I'm not entirely sure yet, IP. LOL! That thread initially caught my eye after doing a forum search to see if Worm had ever done any work with Table Sorting. Then kpsmith's "lightbulbs going off" comment caught my attention:



..and figured it'd probably be majorly interesting to take a look, given Worm had a hand in it.

But specifically, I wanted to check out the alleged functions regarding both 'sorting' and 'duplicate removal'. I knows there's plenty existing code for both these things already (in fact, I actually started new threads on these things a few days ago, to offer up custom function solutions for newbies). But figured it might also be good to have one of Worm's solutions on file, as it'll likely be very robust.

Anyway, if u do happen to have it, that'd be superduper-razzledazzle-funkyfriggin awesome. But, if u can't find it, no biggy. No need to go turning your HDDs upside-down & inside-out on my account.

I'm sorry I cannot help you there, I have no idea if I even had that DLL in the past. As for sorting though, it is probably best to use the table.sort function for Lua objects as it is specifically optimized for that. When you want to learn about other sorting algorithms, it would probably work out for you to look into the explanation of the algorithms. Looking at the code for i.e. a quicksort algorithm might not help you at all, as there are several implementations, which might differ. One implementation of quicksort for example uses the best-of-three method to select a pivot, while another simply selects random value or the middle value as pivot.

Understanding why selecting the right pivot is so important is more useful than understanding the implementation code. Anyhow, I can't help you with the DLL however I could help you with a removing duplicates algorithm if you'd like
