Retrieve Data from other computer on the network

Hello again everyone i have some question that i need to have answer but i cannot implement in my own.
Example i have 2 computer connected on the network.
Computer 1:
This computer save the data on drive: C; example C:\Data.txt


Computer 2:
Using application made by AMS is that possible to retrieve/read the data from the Computer 1 and return it to the AMS application?


If so, what plugin do i need to used and how to implement it?
This is out of my curiousity how it works.. or if someone made it already glad if someone can share..

Hi telco
you just have to map your network drive paths eg

server = "\\\\Servername\\foldername\\foldername";

Folder.Create(server.."\\"..mdy); -- mdy being a variable but you could replace that with "foldername" if you wanted a specific name.

On the Computer1: there is a file called data.txt which has a data on it. example: NAME: JOHN DOE

then on Computer2, the AMS Application is executed and a button to get the data from the .txt file..


Example application executed from Computer2:
OnClick xbutton1
result = TextFile.ReadToString(server"\\\");

Dialog.Message("Notice", result, MB_OK, MB_ICONINFORMATION, MB_DEFBUTTON1);


The Dialog will display
NAME: JOHN DOE


Is this thing called remote access? or something?

No remote access is like teamviewer -you have to get the path to you Computer 1 "C" drive
to access your data file something like this

OnClick xbutton1
result = TextFile.ReadToString("yournetworkname\\\\C;\\data.text")

Actually i have a desktop now, and a laptop. both are connected on the same router.
so i try to access the data. i put the AMS app on my laptop and i cannot get the data..
do i need to set the ip of the desktop to access it?

Ok mate let me check I thought you had both computers hard wired

Oh by the way... laptop is connected via wifi.. is that possible? or i need it to be wired connected also?

I am just checking on setting up a home wireless network with shared drives and printer etc

OK mate got it sorted. A few things to remember that your has to have permissions for read & write

For setting up network and mapping drive just google, here's a couple of pics saves a hundred word



Pic1 is say Computer1 and pic2 Computer2 - my mapped drive computer2 [running apz] is Z so the path to Comp1 file is Z:\\Shared\\Data.txt

I'm not familiar with the intricacies of network drive-mapping, so can't help you there, buddy. I'd imagine the Glebe0id is probably way better informed on the topic and therefore more equipped to handle your query. So will leave you in his capable hands!

Just been playing around with FastStone Capture. It's quite remarkable. ScreenCapture, ScreenRecorder, ImageEditor & VideoEditor, ALL-in-ONE!. And packed into a tiny 3.2mb installer that extracts to just 11mb worth of program files. Wow, it's kind of like the TARDIS from Dr Who, isn't it? (Its outward appearance really belies its inner secrets!) Is there anything it doesn't do?
LOL, I wonder if it time-travels like the TARDIS, too?

Nice find, buddy. Soared straight to the top of my list of favourite apps. And will be regularly used once I get the hang of all its intricacies.
