Check to see if Microsoft Windows was in sleep or hibernate mode?

Hi! I was wondering if there a simpler way to check if Windows was in sleep/hibernate mode since the last time an autoplay application was accessed than adding math to the timer that is always checking the current time hasn't jumped forward. Thank you & all the best!
