    Hi Everyone,

    My advice for everyone having problems would be the following:
    1. Uninstall AutoPlay Media Studio 8.0, if you have 7.5 installed uninstall it as well providing you have access to the 7.5 install.
    2. Re-download the installer from our website, either the commercial from the customer portal, the trial, or the Personal Edition.
    3. Please don't use a *****ed version! Software politics aside, if it's a *****ed version there is no way for us to know what's happening. Virus, bad *****, etc.
    4. Re-Install AutoPlay 7.5 if you uninstalled it.
    5. Re-Install AutoPlay 8.0.

    Hopefully that helps.

    New development..... Still can't get it to run from shortcut or from directory, but when I open up an existing project by using the "Open With" feature in windows OS it allows me to run AMS 8. What the ****????

    "Just say no to Drugs" Well I'm not on them anymore.

    Defrag did not help. I also have 7.5 and it runs just fine so this leads me to believe that 8.0 has problems. I would appreciate anymore suggestions and would like to here from IR on this. Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried the free version? Does that run ok?

    If you're using a [email protected] then that could be causing the error (not accusing anyone, just pointing that out).

    Also, I have been able to fix some memory access errors simply by defragging. I know that sounds simplistic, but when a system is heavily fragmented, sometimes that will crash a program.

    Has there been a fix to this problem. I have a new machine with new OS and I am getting this error. What is the fix. If it is reinstll OS than I need to know. But I would think that is unsat. Since this has happened on earlier versions than I would say it is a IR problem.

    Clean is a big word in the Windows World. I'm a computer technician and like i've writtent above, this problem already happened on older versions.

    If it works once the system is clean, would be safe to say it's not AMS then. I couldn't find anything to clearly suggest a problem on AMS part.

    Yes, i'm not surprised. That's what i don't want to do though. I now remember that this problem already happened to me a couple of times before with older versions as i also had to reinstall my OS to make it work.

    Hello,

    just to make sure:
    • You edited the file while AutoPlay Media Studio was not running;
    • You mean AppData.ini instead of "preferences.ini";
    • You added these two lines, exactly as shown:
      Code:
      [Supress]
      MissingControlsDlg=1
    • You restarted AutoPlay Media Studio, and nothing changed in the slightest?

    Hello,

    please try the following: In the same folder mentioned as before, where you can find the Preferences.xml file, please edit the AppData.ini file.

    Locate the section [Supress], and add the line

    MissingControlsDlg=1

    to it. After changing the file, try to start AutoPlay Media Studio again and tell us if something changed.

    Also, please let us know your exact operating system version and language. (OS name, 32 or 64 bit, SP, etc.)

    Additionally, please make sure that you update Adobe Acrobat Reader to the latest version (9.3.2). Looking at the log file, it appears that the error is occurring when trying to load the installed Acrobat Reader OCX. What version do you have currently installed?

    Finally, please execute AutoPlay Media Studio without Kaspersky running in the background.

    Hello there,

    I've tried all of the above without success. :( As for Adobe, i had the latest version, but tried to uninstall it to see if it was the problem. I then ran Autoplay and it told me about acobat beeing needed but optionnal, so i just pressed next and again, the program crashed.

    For Kapersky, it's a little bit more complicated since even if i turn it off, there's always some backend process that still seem tio work. But, unfortunately, even by desabling it, the problem would still be the same.

    Do you have any other ideas ?

    Kind regards,

    Sylvain
