    Gosh that was very very beautifully written my friend. I went through a lot of positive emotions reading that. Although it WAS informative as well as amusing, it just so very lovely. I'll treasure that piece of literature. We should include it in the new manual?

    This could be my contribution to the AMS forum, to put together code examples as well as .apz examples. I love doing things like that, and of course it'll help me to learn but the beauty of it is i don't need to be a programmer to get on with it. Infact i've already started.
    By the way, i have no plans to make money out of it. I'm at a stage in life where i do what i want and i do it for free, just like you guys in here - you can't buy this stuff anyway, it's priceless. Love you's guys, you're Magic.
    We should put that in the custom manual, we should put thousands of opinions and tips in there as well. It's not just all
    about the code, but mindsets regarding how to code, how to design an application, how to structurize the sources, is all
    just as important as the code itself.

    And Tone, I don't know about you, but I really liked this community since I joined. Everyone here has always been very
    helpful, and I have a few specific people to thank alot for helping me out when I needed it. I don't know but, IR may change
    this community as much as they want to, if the people I'm writing stuff for stay here, I will too

    In that manual, we should also have one part where all the most used examples would be in, including a description of
    the subject regarding that example. This way, users could search through that manual first, before having to ask or search
    the forums :yes

    Examples in which we could state that the most basic function, which seems to do little and seems to be important,
    can be a huge and important part of one of the most advanced custom written functions in an application.

    Useless functions or procedures do not exist, every little thing has it's function too, some new coders will have to
    realize that at some point, they can not live without that basic function.

    Thank you gentlemen.

    I think a good idea for a book would be a collation of example scripts, rather more like an advanced and detailed manual than a book per se.
    For instance, having a lovely list of examples of what each function can offer i'm sure would be the ultimate for everyone from n00b to expert, because we could start off simple and finish with updated advanced codes.

    Centauri Soldier i'll have a look at your thread now.
    Thanks for sharing. :yes

    That's for sure. I can't speak for everyone else here but I was starting from 0 when I started with AMS. I had like two months of programming under my belt so it was quite a struggle.

    As a matter of fact, there is a little tutorial thread here written from my experience so far. I would recommend sharing your knowledge here too (as opposed to the book idea) so others can benefit from it.

    I'm getting more and more addicted to AMS and am now thinking of how to store snippets of code, and maybe writing a book for the n00b such as myself.

    Aye, but I enjoy learning, no matter what the subject is, if I want to learn it, I'll enjoy it!
    And, when I first used lua, I was amazed by it and I needed something like AMS to exploit
    it even more. And getting to know AMS was a big joy for me

    You could also achieve the same by using multiple labels with different colors, but I'd only do that
    if the text is static (it doesn't change). Also, you could create an RTF file in wordpad, and load it
    into the RTF object, even easier. Also, you could open the RTF is Notepad, copy it's contents,
    put it in a long string in AMS, use RTF.SetText(szRTF, true); and do it like that.

    I really like the RTF object.

    Code:
    -- Create a table
    tColor = {}
    -- Change the color
    tColor.ColorNormal = "1";
    -- Set the color
    Label.SetProperties("Label1", tColor);
    That changes the label color to black. Unfortunately I don't know the other colors numbers list.

    EDIT: Here, I found some:
    16729600 - Blue
    10040064 - Red
    I'll post more soon.
