    Alfred 2.0

    This is what/whom I am currently working on at this minute...

    inspired by http://projectjarvis.com/

    I decided to try and develop something similar

    Click image for larger version

Name:	alfredscreen.png
Views:	1
Size:	62.4 KB
ID:	282826

    The way it/he works is as follows, Alfred just sits there waiting for input from a mic using a speech to text program (see website above for concept)

    So... on the bottom is where I can type voice commands (so I don't annoy the wife with all my jibba jabba :P)

    The commands are loaded from a file in the same location as the exe in a simple structure like so (below). The first part is the text (from speech) that I have to say in order to run the script. This keeps the file size of the main app small.

    Code:
    close = close.lua
    shut down = shutdown.lua
    restart = restart.lua
    Version 1 works really well, but I am re-writing Alfred from scratch because I've learnt so much more and there more awesome plugins which I can use now.

    With version 1 (just to give you an idea of what can be done)

    I build him with a calendar system, so I would get alarms for work on weekdays (with radio too), to put the bins out on monday, birthdays, public holidays (wouldn't turn on my work alarm if the day was a public holiday) etc.

    He has text to voice, so he can litterally speak, and also detects if I have music on so wont speak unless told to, in which case he would turn the music down and then speak and then turn it back up (fade in/out)

    Would monitor my bandwidth direct from my ISP and warn me if I was getting low and also if I asked would tell me how much I had left (bandwidth) etc

    Would notify me of when my torrents finish downloading

    Would give me weather information when requested (I also enabled this to give me the weather forecast for a workday alarm before it turned on the radio)

    etc

    Whatever your imagination can think of try and do it, basically...

    Oh my goodness haha, it was juni. I tried my best to find the original link so i could give the right person credit, i gave up after an hour and eventually used the example on my hard drive
    Nice to see juni gave Rexzooly the credit he deserved and it was a collaboration. Being a socialist of course
    Thanks boku :yes

    Oh wow that's sad man. But honestly i'm so glad you came back. This is one of the reasons i'm encouraging this thread. These projects are works of art and should be preserved forever.
    I wonder if it would be possible for you to upload your version from your hard drive?
    I remember you commenting on ComboBoxes now yes, yeah i know you're keen on them. I remember now.

    Then there's heroguys not quite finished but nevertheless marvellous example of a media player, which inspired me to learn about masks, even today i'm still blown away by what AMS can do.

    Thanks mate, we can start with the aforementioned Sound Recorder, which to n00bs wanting to incorporate a recorder into their first media player well, this example is invaluable.

    Thanks to worm for making it and posting it on

    there is one object event of that plugin because
    it is impossible to map an activex's event interface to AMS object event
    activex controls have one or more event interfaces
    and this must be done when i build that plugin , so if it was for only one activex cotrol , it could be possible , but this plugin for creating *any* activex control

    this plugin provides dynamic event interface access using native lua tables :o
    it is really easy than ams object events

    for example :

    Code:
    MstGridEvents = {}

    function MstGridEvents:AfterSelChange(NewFirstRow,NewFirstCol, NewLastRow, NewLastCol)
    end

    ActiveX.JoinEvents("Plugin1", mGrid, MstGridEvents);
    you done , you can add as much events as you want :yes

    plugin also provides access to sub interfaces like below

    C++ : mGrid->getColumn(1)->setCellType(1);
    Visual Basic : mGrid.Column(1).CellType = 1
    Lua With ActiveX Plugin : mGrid:getColumn(1):setCellType(1);

    of course all of this stuff requires a minimum level of COM programming knowledge
    but it is not rocket technology , you can get it to work by reading manual of that activex control

    you can now understand this plugin's power , it gives you everything for host any ActiveX control in AMS using only Lua :yes

    please see attached example
    Can You Please Save this one for 7.5 Please?
