You being the photoshop man I was wondering if you are anxious about the upcoming release of Photoshop 8? Or if it is worth the upgrade. I do not know what new features it will have. Just curious on your thoughts??

Re: Corey, photoshop 8?
Hadn't heard about it. But Having now heard about it yeah I'm excited for sure, I can hardly wait. Photoshop is the one app which is *always* worth the upgrade. I use it more than any other app by far in my work day. I was just getting caught up on 7.0 myself actually I'm embarrassed to admit.
I've been skateboarding every single spare moment outside of work so I'm out of the loop right now. The leaves are atarting to fall though so it's back to full time computer geekery for another 8 months.
Thanks for the heads up AGRO, I'll look into it. I used to know some guys at Adobe, I'll send out some emails and see who's still there and what they say...

Re: Corey, photoshop 8?
OK, pieced together a couple rumors, so here's a couple thoughts on Photoshop 8.0 as rumor has it:
Nested layer sets is awesome obviously. Now you can really compact things in the layers palette and basically set up a tree structure. Very nice. Excellent for collaborations.
Histogram palette is an interesting thing, not sure exactly what it is, i.e. levels or what? Should be cool but probably something (like the info palette) that I would only use occasionally.
Filter layers is HUGE! I can't believe this one, I've been dreaming of this for many years and here it is. The only beef I have with Photoshop workflow (my favorite of all apps) is that the native filters cannot be used non-destructively. And basically I keep a copy of every layer I apply a filter to in case I need it again later, this clutters up my files and my layers palette. But no more with filter layers, I will be STYLING!!! Filter layers alone justifies an upgrade easily. Think about it, this is HUGE!!! HUGE!!!
The ability to work with non-square pixels must be for video people. So I have no real comment on this.
The new enhanced PDF tools and functionality will be very excellent for all of us of course. Bring it on Adobe!
Now for the biggie. Ready? TEXT ON A PATH!!! Hot diggity dawg-gone-it the day has finally come!!! I can remember sitting there like 5 years ago going, "I wish Photoshop could do text on a path, but naw, they'd never do that because then Photoshop would be competing with Illustrator." but now they are. YEEHAH!!! This is a biggie for me. If you can apply text to a path that means you can apply it to a custom shape, so that opens up HUGE workflow advantages. Now fitting text to fancy interfaces, etc. will be as simple as pie, or even simpler. and what could be simpler than pie? Text on a path, that's what...
I assume with all their other apps coming out with versions at the same time, i.e. Illustrator 11, After Effects 6, etc. That there will be some enhanced integration there too... Coolness.
I can hardly wait for Photoshop 8.0 and Illustrator 11. I can guarantee you these apps will both be well worth the upgrade. Never doubt Adobe is what I have learned. Not every product they have is essential but the ones that are never disappoint. Anyone who understands the true depth of Photoshop 7.0 even for example, understands that this is very special software from a very special company. I don't think there's a single image editor on the market which can do anything Photoshop can't but I'm sure the reverse isn't true.
Photoshop is truly the Bob Sapp of the image editing world, and from the looks of the rumors on this new version, "and a bag of chips" as the kids say... Thanks for the heads up AGRO. "Mad props be to you and your peeps" as the kids say....

Re: Corey, photoshop 8?
I agree with everything you say. I like the text on a path. There are so many things you can do with Photoshop, everytime I open it I learn something.
What are your thoughts on Gimp? I have never used it or know anybody who has, but I have herd and read online that it is a close contender for Photoshop. I go to there site and it looks nice but I just dont see myself switching over, ever. I think it does not compare at all. I would gladly pay the price of Photoshop vs. the free Gimp. Gladly!!
