Corey, I think you'll appreciate the final bit about his later judgment. I think it's fair to say that everyone who enjoys or makes a living through computers and other video devices today owes him at least the courtesy of their 5 minutes it takes to read up on the father of the invention that makes their livelihoods possible.
There's a new book out on that guy. CSPAN interviewed the author on BookTV a couple weeks ago... http://www.booktv.org/Booknotes/inde...amp;segid=3722 you might like it... I watched the segment, the author was boring...
The Discovery had a great show about Tesla and Hydroelectric power. It was a great show and puts into perspective what it took for these guys to allow us to flip a switch and turn on a light. This on top of the other inventions Tesla created.
Little-known discovery: In one of Tesla's labs was a vibrating platform which Tesla discovered had a strange laxative effect. When his friend, Mark Twain, stayed on the platform too long, Tesla had to rush him to the restroom.
Some bizarre behaviors: Columbiphilia (pigeon-love), kakiphobia (fear of dirt), scotophilia (love of the dark), pathophobia (fear of germs), spherophobia (fear of round objects), triphilia (obsession with the number 3), and visual and auditory hallucinations.
Neat.

To me the most interesting scintilla in all this is that Tesla was set to build and test a wireless power grid but was halted by lack of funds. The world might be completely different today if he had only been able to leverage the resources to see that through.
I saw the rock band "Tesla" in concert twice, once on purpose, once by accident. They were absolutely terrible, one of the worst live bands I've ever witnessed. Yet ironically they had lots of money at the time unlike their namesake.
