Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
WOW! I really appreciate you going to all that trouble, Corey. Tremendous job; that's why I have been with you folks since version 2.
Darryl Hnatiuk emailed me, asking a series of very good questions, including what operating system am I using, and can I replicate the problem on another machine? First, I am designing using Win 2000. I decided to copy over the distribution folder to another machine running Win 98, and when I ran the autorun file, it performed perfectly!!! Opened up the browser to the correct URL immediately, and with NO ERROR MESSAGE!!! I guess there's some minor conflict with W2K.
Anyway, thanks again to the entire team and everyone else who provided me with their input.

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
Hmmm...if export the page and attach it, we could check it out. (Or email it to [email protected] if you don't want to post it in public.)

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
I deleted the hotspot, created a new one, made sure it wasn't near others. Same problem. FYI: I have a bunch of hotspots over a JPG graphic; the other hotspots perform a page/jump. No problems there.
Oh well; appreciate your help, Eric.

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
Hmmmm.... works for me. Should be good. Your hotspot wouldn't be overlapping any other hotspots or links, would it?

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
OK - first, I created a hotspot over some text.
SETTINGS: both checked.
ATTRIBUTES: gave it a name, cursor is hand.
SOUNDS: using both mouse over and mouse click.
ACTIONS: On Mouse Click - File to open: http://www.cdrdup.com
VERB: Open

Give us the EXACT syntax you used - sounds like a syntax error to me.

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
Thanks - it works, but with it also gives the following error message dialog box: "Error opening file. File not found. http://www.url.com." FYI: it does this when I run it in preview mode or after a build.
AARGH! What am I missing???
Thanks for the help.

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
The URL goes in the File to Open line.
It's not very intuitive.
Likewise to EMail, use
mailto:[email protected]

Thanks.
But what goes in the "File to open (path and file name)" field?

Re: HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
This needs to go in an FAQ!
File.Open (open, "http://www.yoururl.com")

HOW TO LINK TO A WEB SITE IN VER 4?
Greetings, All - first let me say that having used versions 2 & 3, version 4 is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! I am thrilled with what you have done with it.
This is such a dumb question, but I just can't figure it out. All I want to do is link a hotspot to a website. In version 3 you just did a "go to www.xxxxxxx". For the life of me, I don't know how to do the same in the new version. I've gone through HELP, but I'm not getting it! 8<
Thanks in advance for any help, and kudos for a great upgrade!Tags: None
