• Mp3 or Wav?

I've seen some reference to sounds, which is best to use? or it depends on the project. I know a .wav is larger than the mp3. So i guess storage is a factor....

Generally MP3 files are best for things such as background music and WAV files are best for things such as mouse over sounds etc.

        Re: Mp3 or Wav?

MP3 works just fine for sounds effects too over here, maybe Darryl knows something I don't though.

I think what Darryl said is basically a throwback, I don't see any reason nowadays to use .wavs in your stuff at all. Again though that's just an opinion, I may be missing something.

As to WAV vs. MP3 there is no question that MP3 is the only way to deploy. WAVs are best used only in production stages of media projects such as video or audio, where you would want the audio to be of max possible quality. In terms of deployment you try and find the balance between that and feasibility vis-a-vis file size, compatibility, performance, etc.

Also the MP3 encoded version of any given .wav will use less RAM to playback than the original unencoded .wav file.

          Corey,

Good info as well, yeah i like the quality and effect when i encode the mp3 with nero, and to be honest i like the less clutter the mp3 saves vs wav.

Good, you'll never go wrong with MP3. Being a flash person I have been exporting all my stuff as MP3, including sound effects, etc. for a long time. It's never done me wrong.
