• Import error

Hi,
i get an Error Message "Page import failed" while i used to import a lessonfunction from the new helpfile. After the thread from rancho1 rote TJ Tigger a solution from the AMS helpfile. I tested that and found out how to import that volumecontrole-file in my project. And it works fine. (Thank you TJ Tigger).
So i try to use to import other functions (basic, advanced ...) in the same way but allways i get an error message like obove.

I am to stupid?
Or what could be the reason?

Re: Import error

How are you trying to import them? Tell us step by step what you're doing, in detail.

What is the exact error message you're seeing? When, exactly, does it appear?

Are you using the latest version of the help file? If not, click here to download it.

Re: Import error

You will only be able to import the .pg4 files using the method we mentioned. Some of the examples are .am4 projects, which you have to open as a separate project, or even a list of actions as a .xml.

I would look at the files to make sure what type they are before you try to import them.

The .pg4 you will to a Page | Import

The .am4 files you will open from AMS4

The .xml files you will open an action list for an object and import them from them .xml

I hope that helps.

I will find examples for each later when I have more time.

Re: Import error

All of the action examples have links to detailed instructions on how to import the type of file involved. Just click on the highlighted word "import" in the sentence that precedes the link to the example file.

Re: Import error

hi lorne,

ok ...
first ...
yes i download the helpfile update befor i get the error message.
snd ...
The exact error message was wrote on my frist thread:
again:"Page import failed" in a little gray popup.

What iv done to get the message ...ok step by step ...

1.open the helpfile to the piont as TJ Tigges discribe.
2.go to intermidiate an use "running a power point presentation" scroll down to the zip.
3. take the zip to my projectfolder and leave it as it is ...
4. go to AMS and open Page>Import ...change the filetype to zip then use the radiobutton "After all existing pages" n click "open".
next i get the error message above...
exactly this i have done with the volumecontrol example and it works fine. As i realized that the zipimport incl. xml worked i tryed the same with other ziped helpfiles and get only errormessages.

I know the different between zip-file incl. xml files and am4 project-files.

hope ist exactly enough

Re: Import error

You're good up to step 3. Step 4 is incorrect, however.

Here's what you want to do:

1. open the helpfile
2. go to the "running a power point presentation" topic, scroll down to the zip at the bottom.
3. save the zip to your projectfolder.
4. UNZIP THE ZIP FILE TO EXTRACT THE .XML FILE THAT IS INSIDE IT
5. go to the place where you want the actions to be inserted in your AutoPlay Media Studio project (i.e. go to the actual Action list where you want the actions to appear)
6. right-click on the action list and select the Import Actions... option
7. select the Running_a_PowerPoint_presentation.xml file to import the actions from that file

Re: Import error

I take it you didn't see the following text in the help file, just below the link to the zip file:

<span style="color: #989898;">(Note: save this file to your hard drive and use a tool like WinZip to extract the XML file)</span>

Imperator error
he read it ... he did it ... he got it

Thank your for correction.
But one question, why that steps i discribe works with the volumecontrol? Shoult have to work that or is it a lucky "mistake" ?

again special thankx to you n your service !!!

in my first experince in this case:
1. i found the zip-option at page-import
2. i use it and it works
