  • MPEG and problems

I have been for sometime working on a project - and tried to include MPEG-videos, inserted as Windows Mediaplayer objects. The build project works fine on the desktop computers - but not on laptops. I have tried several. The MPEG-files are decoded with DVMPEG. I do not have to much experience with video - and codecs. But to my knowledge - MPEG is standard that do not depend on a certain kind of codec installed on the machine using it, or...

Do anyone have a solution (explaination). Or any experience with the same kind of problem...

That is incorrect; MPEG relies on a codec, just like all other compressed video formats. The laptop might simply not have the appropriate codec installed. (There are some standard codecs that are installed with Windows by default, but that's irrelevant if your video was encoded with a different codec.)

Do the videos play in Windows Media Player on the laptops, outside of AutoPlay?

      Lorne...

Thanks for Your interest. The answer to Your question is yes, both the original file and the corresponding .dav-file in the built project plays well on the laptop - by itself. Without the spesific videocodec from DVMPEG, a codec installed on the machine the meny was designed on. I now tried to export the mpeg-file with no sound. It played on the laptop - but at the same time I got an error message that a earlier, but removed mediaplayer object on that page, could not be found.
I have been corresponding with Darryl at Your support desk - and left a zip-fil there with the project if that is to Your interrest.
