One Last Question on CD Audio

I understand there is a windows media player function in AS4.0, but I was woundering how I can play a specific Audio Track on the CD the autoplay will be on (I'm making a hybrid CD (Thats DATA/AUDIO for those who don't know)). So I would like to be able to play track 1 on the audio portion of the CD by clicking on a text object, but I dont want windows media player to pop up. I would like to make my own stop, play, whatever buttons.. I looked everywhere but the only information I could find was upon MP3's and not Audio. I also found one site saying that it was not possible, but just thought I would ask.. If it is impossible how owuld I go about calling up an application such as windows media player to play that specific track? Any help?

Why not just rip the audio tracks to MP3 and have it play from there. If you have an issue with security, as in the MP3s being readily available fore people to download off the CD then look here. It shows how to rename the files to something else that a common user may not recognize but AMS4 still will.

Um, if he's putting actual CDDA audio tracks on the CD, there's no point worrying about security...anyone could just rip the tracks and encode them as MP3s themselves. [img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

Don't alot of CD players have trouble playing CDDA audio from a CD while trying to access data from another portion of the disk? I'm pretty sure alot of them do; unless they use some sort of read-ahead with a large enough cache to hold all the data needed... In otherwards, if you were to play some audio and then click a button to go to the next page, by default the CD would then need to stop playing the audio to load the .wav mouseOver/down sounds and the graphics on the next page, then go back to playing the audio--unless there are buffers in there, the audio will skip and/or the program will pause untill it can access the data.

I know I've played a few games where that was the case--the CD audio tracks would stop playing, and the game would lag, anytime something new happened (like creating a new building which had to load new sprites).

No I need it to be CD Audio because it has to be able to play in old CD players.. Im just trying to enhance the experience for when you place the CD into a computer.

I have done this before using Roxio software. It works well but I also wanted background music so I ripped the audio tracks to mp3 and put them on the CD to work as the background music. It worked well. Plays in a CD Audio player and autoplay works great as well with the background music.

Problem is.. I dont have the memory to place both Audio and MP3 on CD. Thre MP3 files each 30mb.. soo

Can you lessen the quality of the MP3 for the CD so they are not 30 MB but more like 10MB?

TJ i right... Nero works very similar to Roxio in that aspect. Also Merlin Musicmatch Jukebox will handle your request. It's the best. You can rip and burn those mp3's to a CD file, which will play in your automobile. You can specify which type mp3 burn or CD. The newest version i was told will simplify your file size.
