  • AMS4 Command Line to Open Password protected PDF

Trying to find a way to send the password for an encrypted PDF to Acrobat reader through a command line switch in AMS4.

Everything I've read indicates this would require a custom plugin for Acrobat Reader.

Anyone done this or have any leads, ideas?

Best I've come up with is ZIP up the PDF with a password protected zip file. Onclick it would extract and launch.

The idea here is to not let the user know the password to the PDF so if they tried using them outside of the AMS4 EXE the PDF would be useless save some password hacking

I've done a bit of searching, and as you suggested, the only way I've seen is to use a plugin.

This would make a good feature, you should suggest it. In fact a whole family of PDF related actions is likely in order judging by the posts I've read in this forum.

I suppose this would be helpful for those distributions where only certain eyes should be reading a specific PDF. However, you should operate under the assumption that no PDF is well-protected:
