  • Problems with Windows Media Video 9 codec

All my video files that use Windows Media Video codec 9 don't show in a Media Player object in AMS 4.0.0.3, you can just hear the sound.
I have Win XP Home, and WMP 8.
    Any solutions?

Try upgrading WiMP? Version 9 is final, and I have it running very peacefully with AMS 4.0.0.3 right now on my Windows 2000 Pro machine.

Do videos that use Windows Media Video codec 9 work in a Media Player object in AMS after you install WMP 9?

I'm gonna say yes, even though I haven't yet personally tried it. I can't see a reason why such videos wouldn't play.

Make sure you have that codec installed so it's available system-wide. (I don't happen to know how to do that, I just know that's what you'll have to do. Note: it might not even be possible.)

I'm guessing that the WMP 9 codec was installed in a way that made it available to the WMP 9 player, but not the "older" msdxm.ocx control (which AFAIK is the only one that can be embedded).
