  • Animated Gifs

    Hi all,

I am using Ulead Gif X 2.0 (excellant, by the way) and would like to add animated gifs to my projects. I know this has been mentioned before but I was a little baffled by all the different solutions and suggestions. If I put it on a web page and display it in a web object, I get the scrollbars, which I cannot seem to get rid of.

Is there a tool I can use to convert my animations to avi, which might be easier, even if I have to start messing around with codecs? Or even a method of putting them straight into the project?

If there is a simple answer to these questions already listed, can someone possibly point me at it?

Thanks in advance for all your time.

PS. Fantastic application, makes my job fun. :-D

    Re: Animated Gifs

I use a program that converts the animated gif to a swf flash file. If you want to see how it works, send me a couple of your animated gifs and I'll convert them for you. You can get my email address from my profile.

I think the web address www.gfx2swf.com for the utility.

Only draw back is that flash files do not support transparency.

Superb. Thanks for the info and the kind offer of help. If the program is as good as you say, I'll buy it.

If only everyone behaved like the people in this forum, we'd all be in the land of milk and honey.

        Re: Animated Gifs

It's simple enough. The the flash files produced by DO support transperncy, it is within AMS that the transparency is lost. So if you use the SWF files on a web site, you can use transparency.

if you add scroll="no" to the body of an HTML page you will get no scroller. Flash can convert gifs to avis BTW...

You should upgrade to Ulead Gif Animator 5, you can save your gif's as .avi and a few other video formats in this version. I just used it today and it works great! Good luck
