AS long as they already have Word and/or acrobat installed on there comouter you should be able to simply call the word or acrobat file in the web browser object in AMS.
What happens is there is a web browser plugin for word and acrobat which basically loads an instance of word or acrobat within internet explorer.

Actually, I've had trouble with some browser installations and trying to open MS Word docs. If users have Office 2000 pre-serivce packs, they will encounter an error trying to load a .doc file inside an IE browser window. It is non-destructive, and a user can simply ignore the error, but it's still an ugly circumstance. Just be aware.
