    <snip>
What build were you using before the newest?

Do you currently have the "Start Automatically" option checked on your Media Player Object? If you do, your Play action shouldn't be there. However if you don't, that is something I that I would like to look into. It could be a matter of the size of the video and loading time before trying to play.
    Previously 4.0.0.4 now 4.0.0.5

It's a bit complicated - I sorted out another problem as well. I have all my mpg's in distribution/data. I couldn't work out why one of them was being duplicated as a .dav until I realised that I was loading it with the media player object but I'm now opening the player 'blank' and then loading and playing the videos in it - but this was after I sorted the invalid state problem.

Since I'm re-using the player and a user can select another video while one is playing, it seems I've got to .stop before I can .play. It works OK anyway.

Yes I did have the sart automatically checked so that was where the problem lay?

It's hard to tell, but the things I know for sure are:

    - Yes, the ZoneAlarm issue was resolved regarding the LAN variables.
    - That invalid state error was there in version 4.0.0.4 and continues to be there in 4.0.0.5 under certain conditions with the Media Player 9.0 control. It is basically out of our control. It's basically either in a busy state or something like that.

I have a couple questions for you:

The invalid state error is only a problem with Media Player 9.0 installed<snip>
The only thing that changed between a working and a non working build was the AMS update. Anyway it's OK, as I said I solved it by putting a .stop in before each .play and it stopped Zone Alarm being a pain .

The invalid state error is only a problem with Media Player 9.0 installed and happens when you do the following:
    - You have a Media Player Object that is set to start automatically (in properties).
    - You also have an action loads a video (MediaPlayerObject.Load action) followed by a MediaPlayerObject.Play action.

In that situation, you either need to NOT have it start automatically and leave the play action, or remove the play action.

    Hope that helps.

Just done the update to 4.0.0.5 and it's certainly stopped Zone Alarm throwing a wobbly.

My previous build that did work perfectly started throwing up error messages though.

I've got several video clips that I load then play in one media player object. Kept getting an invalid state error message. Solved it by putting a .stop in before each .play. Would this be because I said yes to the option to disable media player preview when it detected the vers 9 codec?

    Hi,

This problem should be fixed in the latest version of AutoPlay 4.0, version 4.0.0.5.

The LAN variables were the reason that AutoPlay 4.0 tried to connect to the Internet. Now if you do not use them in your project AutoPlay 4.0 will not fill them with their values.

It looks to me as if Zone Alarm tracks each instance of the runtime/exe and also the dll's that are called.

Telling it NOT to allow access and also to remember that option for that particular runtime instance doesn't interfere with any other internet activities as far as I can tell.

Yes, I understand that you can tell zone alarm to always allow access. My concern is the fact that a lot of people do not read instructions before playing a cd-rom so I do not want to rely on giving info about zone alarm in the instructions.

I want them to be able to access the internet at the end of my presentation so I don't want Zone Alarm to cause problems later if they choose not to allow access to the net when the autorun starts.

Is there any idea when or if this is going to be fixed in an update.

I'd be curious to get an answer about this too. Zone Alarm Pro reports it every single time.
I had the same problem. I suspect that it only happens on Win2K and XP machines. I stopped it by clicking 'Remember answer every time' and saying no when I got the warning from Zone Alarm.

I recently purchased Autoplay Media Studio after reading the reviews and trying the demo. So far I have been very impressed with it. However, I have only now discovered this thread regarding Zone Alarm.

I can accept firewall messages that pop up when an internet link is clicked but for this to occur when the application starts is of great concern to me. As stated in previous posts, some people would see this as a possible invasion of privacy.

I have now downloaded Zone Alarm and tested it with a blank project and I am getting an alert when I run the autorun.exe.

Does anyone know if this is being addressed in the very near future. I was hoping to release a project within the next 4 weeks until I discovered this issue.

The design environment does the checks for other installed copies of AutoPlay. The runtime does not do these checks.

    Just to clarify.

Well... Actually it (Autoplay Menu Studio) looks up for it's own installation with the same license, in case you installed it on 2 or more PCs in your home/office LAN. And if it finds one (if both are with the same license) notifies user and ask him to quit.

"Anyone who owns/uses Zone Alarm is plenty used to getting unnecessary alerts"

    - that's why I dont use it anymore. It becomes annoying and doesnt seem to work properly after some time.
