I would like to know how you retrieve the creation date of a file.

I'm unaware of a way to do this strictly with AMS, but
there is a utility that is used for login scripts named Kixtart (www.kixtart.org) that can do quite a few little tricks. I know that there is a function in it to get a files date and time stamp.

I need to be able to assign the date to a variable to compare to another file date to make sure they have the newest version.
