but how do I create an exe file when I've finished making a project? Is it something in the configuration of the project before building?

when you build a project AMS makes an .exe file automatically. (the hammer...use the hammer)

If you are refering to a single exe file containing the whole project, this can't be done in AMS4* ... otherwise go thru Project>Build.

* There has been much discussion on this. It seems as tho most users wishing to do this are creating single files with a utility [winzip etc.] and extracting the contents of the file to a temp dir, then running it from there.

speaking of that. I used to know how to get winzip and winrar to automatically run a cerrtain file when self extracting but i seem to have forgotten. Anyone willing to offer a brief refresher?

Look for the "run after extraction" option in there somewhere, in Winrar it's under the SFX options button...

For WinRAR when you 'add to archive' you will want to check the box in front of 'Create SFX archive' on the General tab. Then on the Advanced Tab click the SFX Options . . . button. Then on the General Tab there is a Run after extraction option.

in WinZip Self Extractor just use the wizard and it will tell you to select a file that you want to run upon extraction
