• Problem in some machine confs

Hi all ! I'm pretty new to Autoplay Media Studio, and to english.. so sorry if i don't make me undertand.

I have done a project that on start loads an mp3 and plays it. No problem at this point. Then i added some buttons, and pointed them to exe files (demos of software created with turbo demo 4). On the click event i made a mp3 pause (my exe's have voice and i want people to ear them without problem) and then a "wait for program to finish". Then the exe file launches to full screen, plays and then closes itself, bringing you back to the AMS app.

No problem for me at this point. But when i publish the distribution files, everything works ok, but... in some machines you can´t hear the voice of my exe files (the mp3 pauses, yes), they only see the animation.

In my machine all works correctly, but this is a problem on 6 of the 8 machines i have tested it. All of them plays correctly the mp3 file, but with the flash.. there isn't sound at all !

Anyway, if they play the exe file from outside the AMS executable, it plays well, animation and sound. Any idea on what causes this or how could i fix it ? I must publish this cd before the 15th of this month, and i have no more ideas...

Thanks in advance for the help, and the time to read my ugly english.

It's probably an audio codec issue. See if you can figure out what codecs the sound is encoded with, it should say in the program you made it with somewhere.

I think this isn't the problem, beacuse i'm not playing videos, i'm playing an exe file generated from flash, that plays well on most computers. Today i made a test, i played the exe files from outside the menu, and all of them played well, video and audio, but when i.. from the AMS launch the exes (First i do a Mp3.stop or a mp3.pause, both methods fails) they doen't play the sound.. only the animation. Is possible that AMS "owns" the sound card and doesn't let the flash exes play ?

      I'm desperate yet

Sorry again for the bad english

        I'm curious.

Try this: start your AMS app, let the MP3 play.

Then externally launch your FLASH EXE.

        What happens?

Re: Problem in some machine confs

On my machine, with a simple onboard soundblaster, both of them plays at the same time... tomorrow i could test this in the three machines that doesn't plays the sound.

          I haven't helped a lot... uh ?

Unfortunately, what I think you're going to find is that different systems (OS and hardware) handle this in different ways. Some will mix all of the different programs trying to use the sound hardware, while others will not.

Re: Problem in some machine confs

Yes, Colin, in certain mode... because i tried Worm's idea, playing the AMS project from the distribution exe, and with it playing the mp3, playing the exe flash file with the sound. The result: flash not playing sound.

But then the point is.. if i stopped the mp3, why AMS doesn't "free" the sound card in order to let another sound sources play ? Perhaps AMS doesn't handle this well, because if it "free" the sound card well when i mp3.stop... the exe must sound, doesn't it ?

I also tried mp3.pause with same result... any idea ?

Thanks all for the help, and again.. sorry for the bad english.

I have tried another thing... playing with winamp the mp3, and then pausing the mp3 and launching the flash file, it doesn't sound, but when i stop winamp, the flash file sound perfect. It could be a problem in AMS that doesn't "unlock" the sound card ?
