How do I make a selectable playlist like in Windows media

I want to be able to select a song or movie from a list and play it.

Yes this is possible. But it's possible to do in so many different ways that's it's hard to offer one specific choice of method. But to answer your question, yes, it's definitely possible...

What's the easiest way to do it.

I want to have it point to a directory on the computer where all the songs are listed.

It works good. Could you explain what it's doing and how it's doing it.
