Is there a way to start an external application (from within AMS), then have AMS close it with maybe a timer function or some other action? Or is this a security issue? Trying something out of the ordinary and thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Yes it can be done. Window > Close will close any window and WINDOW > FIND can help you indentify it to close it...
