I want to play an AVI movie from an image object. I get the media player to come up but I can't get the movie loaded or played, at least not in preview. I've tried load and play commands within AMS but it won't work. Am I doing something wrong or will it not load in preview mode. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Playing AVI
The Avi was encoded with DivX pro 5.02, any yes it plays fine in both WM9 and MV2 players. I noticed that it will autostart when I associate one or the other players with AVI on my computer but when I try to use the other player then both players come up and the one associated with avi will start playing and the other will just sit there.
By the way thanks for the help and the quick reply.

Re: Playing AVI
Sorry, I don't know exactly what to make of your post. Are you saying that when you double-click the AVI file, it opens two separate players? If that's the case, your computer has something pretty strange going on. Perhaps someone who knows something more about the Windows operating environment can help you fix that issue. It sounds like that could be the root cause of your problem.

Re: Playing AVI
Not exactly, Both Players come up when run by AMS,not when run normally. the player associated with avi wants to play the file regardless if I bring up another player in AMS. If I unassociate one then eithther player will come up,depending on which one I cooose, but neither will load and play from AMS.
I d/l new templates, Including scifi Theater, which will load and play the avi in WM. I haven't had the time to understand the command line arguments yet,but i would like to convert WM9 player to MV2 player.

Re: Playing AVI
Well, the Media Player object in AMS is only really capable of looking like the WiMP player. There have been some version 9 (WiMP) issues, which will hopefully be fixed in the 4.0.0.4 release due in a week or so. It's not a tailorable look, though you can make certain features unavailable.
I still don't understand you fully. Spell out exactly what's happening, in chronological order. What programs are running when you attempt to run your AMS project in preview mode? What is your method for running the AVI file inside your AMS project? (ie. Media Player Object, AVI object, File.Open, etc.) Do you want the AVI file in question to run inside the AMS interface or outside in its own process?
Don't let the WM9 interface that occasionally works in AMS' 4.0.0.3 authoring environment (sometimes it looks like the classic interface) confuse you. It shouldn't look like that when the project is built and operational on any machine. At least through v. 4.0.0.3. We'll see about 4.0.0.4.
Are your problems only occuring when you preview your project, or also when the project is built?
