I posted this message in the General forum but somehow it disappeard.

I am a newcomer to this type of software and I am finding it hard to comprehend.
I think IndigoRose as part of there Help program should give a simple example project step by step, as I find the help not being very helpfull.
I seem to be going around in circles.

I would be very grateful if some obliging person would give me simple steps to do the following:
I have 2 sets of jpeg images which I would like to burn on a cd with a background image and 2 buttons.
So the user could use either of the buttons to play a set of images as a slideshow.

Yes your other post was deleted since it was just you ranting about your frustration. This isn't a complaint forum, it is a help forum. We are not here to be assessed or field extended complaints, we are here solely to assist product users who are serious about learning. Our other users have no interest in you ranting about your frustrations either, they are here to learn and share knowledge.

If you are having trouble understanding both the product and the help files we do regret that very much, but I can tell by your post that you haven't yet taken the time to just sit down, roll up your sleeves, and experiment with AutoPlay Media Studio for a few hours. Once you do, you will be amazed how easy it is to learn. Until you do, there are no magical shortcuts we can provide.

AutoPlay Media Studio is very easy to learn:

1. Does that mean you can learn it in 5 minutes? No.
2. Does that mean you can learn it without putting in some effort? No.

You can't expect to learn any professional level design software in 5 minutes. So now that we've established that let's get on to helping you. Because that's what we're here for and we're always happy to provide as much help as we can to anyone who asks politely.

OK so onto your project. You said:

AutoPlay Media Studio isn't a slideshow creator per se although it's easy enough to create a slideshow using it. That being said creating an image slideshow is intermediate level knowledge. Basically what you need to do is create a page holding your two buttons and background image and then attach one slideshow to each button. You would have to decide on which technique you are using to create the slideshow, i.e. flash, javascript, media player, etc. since there are a few choices, and then the rest is easy because you just plop your slideshows into place and off you go.

So first you need to decide how you are going to create your slideshow. the main options are via flash, javascript (web object), or media player. Any idea which one you might like to use?

Unless of course your slideshows contain not a huge amount of images (say 20 or less), in which case you could very easily create a slide show by creating pages and just inserting your images on them. How many images in your slideshow? Are they all the same size?

Just a note, let's please lose the extended commentary vis-a-vis your frustrations and focus on the task at hand which is helping you learn. That makes this forum a more pleasant place for all of us. Also I noticed you seem to be using a variety of different user names to post (from the same IP address), that's not a problem with me but it does make it very difficult for us to provide extended support or assistance to you. I made a simple example for you with a small slideshow.
So you can see how it works.
There should be an easier way to do this, but it works.

The time the pictures are shown is set with the value
%x%=500 and %y%=500.

But think about the limitations of this feature:
There is no interaction possible during the slideshow. So you have to wait till the show has ended.

Yes, depending on how customizable you need your slideshows to be often it's better to use flash or javascript, or at least a flash timer in conjunction with paged images at the very least so that the application doesn't sleep during pauses and can therefore be fully custom controlled.

There's also always the good old "Next" and "Previous" buttons...i.e., let the user decide when to show the next slide. (You might even be able to put a check box on the page to toggle manual mode on/off, showing and hiding the buttons...all depends how you go about making the automatic mode automatic.)
