File location

I am not fully sure where to put the locations of a file.

For example if I wished to use an image should this image be copied into the folder that contains the output file or does the program make its OWN copy which it puts in the DATA folder.

All Images and sounds used on buttons and backrounds etc. are automatically put into the data folder. You do not have to put any files in the data folder.
