What is Registry and INI files do? Help Please

I have such a hurt time about Registry and INI file. Can anyone explain to me what is it do? How it work? And please show me a step by step of create it. If any example, please send to [email protected]. I will be glad that we all share our learning together. Thank You

To find out more about the Windows Registry, click on Start>Help type in "registry" and read the results. A brief description that appears in the Windows 2000 Help system is as follows:

"In Windows 2000, a database repository for information about a computer's configuration. The registry contains information that Windows 2000 continually references during operation, such as:
Profiles for each user.
The programs installed on the computer and the types of documents each can create.
Property settings for folders and program icons.
What hardware exists on the system.
Which ports are being used.

The registry is organized hierarchically as a tree and is made up of keys and their subkeys, hives, and value entries.

The above applies to the registry on Windows 95 and above.

Generally speaking one should be careful about what one does to the registry, as ill-considered actions might stop the computer working. Read the information carefully in the Windows Help.
