Re: screen saver install
For doing software installations and making the system changes and OS logic that you're wanting for your screen saver installation, I'd certainly have to recommend Indigo Rose's Setup Factory 6.0. It's a great companion to AutoPlay Studio and certainly a better choice than a self extracting zip file for achieving your goals.

Re: screen saver install
I have just finished a screen saver project of my own and was very glad to see a post that asked the same questions I was wondering about.
I was very dissapointed to see the administrators post that recommended purchasing a $400 program and saying it was a better option. It seems to me there would be a way to query a key in the registry and determine which self extracting zip file to run.
I understand the good folks at IndigoRose are here to make a profit on thier products, but really, isn't that going a bit overboard?

Re: screen saver install
Kurt,
I believe what Colin was trying to point out is that AutoPlay Studio is *not* a software installer. Products like Setup Factory enable you to package up your applications (screen savers) into single-file self-installing executables. That setup.exe can then be emailed, downloaded off a web site or run off of a CD-ROM.
Of course, with AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 on the horizon, there are a lot of creative things you can do such as copying files, making registry changes etc that were once the exclusive domain of the installer program. It's really just a matter of how much control you want to user to have and how much flexibility you want for yourself.
Short answer: Setup Factory 6.0 + AutoPlay Media Studio 4.0 is the top drawer solution for the *best* user experience. Just using AutoPlay 4.0 may also work, depending on your requirements. As always - your mileage may vary.
Since you're debating between Indigo Rose tools, either way you're ahead of your competitors
