Change widow size based on resolution

Is there a way to set the initial size of the menu based on the viewers screen resolution. In other words if a user has his screen set at 640 X 480 I don't want an 800 x 600 menu displayed. I guess you could make a 640 x 480 menu that calls a lerger one if the screen is larger but I was looking for an easier way.
