  • File Not Found

    Hi,
Just a question what happens when you double click on the Serial.text file? Why can't you open it? It seems like there is something wrong with the text file itself, especially if you cannot open it manually. Perhaps it became corrupted during the burning process?
What about the Iloveyou.text file, the error said that it could not find the file, where is it located on your CD? Is it located at: E:\Virtual CD\Iloveyou.text? Can you open that file by browsing and double clicking on it?

    mark.

    File Not Found

I am using version 3.0. I just did a little test cd. A very simple layout with some text and a text box that is supposed to open upon insert and a little Text link inside that is supposed to open up a note to my wife. I created a Virtual CD folder like the tutorial says and put all the needed files into the folder. After I created my layout and I built it and then previewed it, everything works great on the hard drive. Everything opens up like it is supposed too. Perfect. After I record the CD and then insert it, the cd does start up but I am getting 2 error messages. They are as follows:

1-Can not open the file E:\Virtual CD\Serial.text for reading.

    2-E:\Virtual CD\Iloveyou.text
The specified file was not found.

The serial text is the file that is supposed to open up on run in the text box. The little iloveyou file is a note written to my wife that should open when the link is clicked on. Yet I am getting these errors but it works perfectly before I record it. Am I doing something wrong?? Thanks for any help. And...I also have a program in there to install when clicks on and it works fine.

      Re: File Not Found

      Hi,
Does the file Serial.text exist on your CD in the following path: E:\Virtual CD\Serial.text? If you browse for the Serial.text file on your CD, can you open it by double clicking on it? Maybe the file became corrupted during the burning process. Is your CD-ROM drive the E drive? You are using the %SrcDrv% variable, right? Did you set your VIRTUAL CD-ROM FOLDER to Virtual CD in PROJECT -> SETTINGS?

        Re: File Not Found

        Hi Mark,

        In response to the questions:

1 "Does the file Serial.text exist on your CD in the following path: E:\Virtual CD\Serial.text?" Yes.

2 "If you browse for the Serial.text file on your CD, can you open it by double clicking on it?" No.

3 "You are using the %SrcDrv% variable, right? Did you set your VIRTUAL CD-ROM,FOLDER to Virtual CD in PROJECT -> SETTINGS? Yes and Yes.

One thing I did notice is that everytime I open up the program I need to reset the Virtual CD Folder because it does not save the settings. I dont know if this matters but I am using a CDRW disk because Im practicing. I do know that it works perfect until I burn it. I tried Easy CD Creator and Nero 5.0 and both do the same thing. Thanks for the help.

Hi happy, jusy a coupla things that might help.
When you say the Menu will not work after burning, do you mean that it will not autorun, or that it doesn't work at all.
If it's the autorun problem. When making a session in Easy CD, Get rid of (in your case)the \virtual folder\ part of the path, so that everything sits in the root directory (particularly the autorun.exe)

            Mark,

I misunderstood the question about If I clicked on either of the 2 text files on the cd would they open. Yes they do open. If I go to explorer and click on the CD E, and then on either of the files, they open. Everything else I have done works. Sound works, the menu starts and you name it. But the file linked to a hyperlink and the file linked to the text box, will not open when the cd is inserted. Again, they work fine in preview. Thanks and lets keep trying.

              Hi,
What path do you use to open both documents? What are the paths of the documents on the CD-ROM?

                Re: File Not Found

Hi. I am a first time user and I was having the exact same problem as you. What I did was open Text Object Properties and Mouse Click. In Execute Program it should read something like this %SrcDrv%\Iloveyou.text.
Now when you build you will get an error message but I ignored it(after 200 tries) and burned the CD and it worked perfectly.
