I just had a client phone (non-computer literate) and say that a CD he had given someone did not run the video. Now I have had no problem with it - but assumed the player in AMS3 was using WIndows own media player or something similar so every computer would have it. Is this true? Are there computers that the AVI might not run on? Thanks

Re: AVI's in a project - will they work on every computer?
Aloha!
My understanding is that 3.0 had embeded AVi capablity into it, that is, it didnt rely on an external player to view an AVI file. However, this proved to be not entirely true....for the end user must have a codec which decodes the AVI file. SO now I dont tknow what to believe!

Re: AVI's in a project - will they work on every computer?
The following Codecs ship with Windows:
Intel Indeo (IR31 or IR32)
Supermatch Cinepak
Microsoft RLE (MS-RLE)
Microsoft Video 1 (MS-CRAM)
So unless the user has manipulates his/her system, These codecs will always work (even on a clean win95 system)

And could somebody in the know give us a quick rundown of these four formats? Like which one has the most compression, the cleanest compression, the highest potential fidelity, the best performance at small sizes, large sizes, etc.?
My kindgom for knowledge like that!
