Problem is that CDs I make work fine on the
computers I have that have WinMe on them, but
will not work when I put them in a computer with win 98. What is the problem? I am making
the CDs on a computer that has WinMe as its OS. Is there something I can do so they can work on Win98. Don't know why this is happening is there a conflict with WinMe and Win 98?

There is no known conflict between WIN ME and WIN 98, what is probably happening here is the AUTORUN function has been turned off on the WIN 98 machine.
    To enable the AUTORUN function:
    · Select Start > Settings > Control Panel from the Start menu.
    · Double click the System icon to open the System Properties dialog.
    · Select the Device Manager tab.
    · Expand the CD-ROM node (it is usually the one at the top).
    · Select the appropriate CD-ROM drive and click the Properties button.
    · Select the Settings tab.
    · Check the box that says Auto insert notification.
    · Click OK to accept the change.
    · Reboot your system.
Do other CD-ROMs autorun on the WIN 98 computer? Or is it just the AutoPlay CD that does not work. Can you execute the AutoPlay menu by exploring the CD-ROM and double clicking on the AUTORUN.EXE file?
Another thing that might be causing the problem is if you are burning using long file names. Some older CD-ROMs do not function properly when a format aside from ISO-9660 is used. So if you are using long filenames try using 8.3 filenames and see if that solves your problem.

    mark.

Checked was already writing at 8.3. Still remains the thought there is a problem from WinMe to Win98. The Win98 computers can read all other autorun CDs, but not the ones I make on the WinMe OS. The computers that are WinMe will autorun fine so know the CDs I am making are correctly made.

        Hi,
This is the first time I have heard of anything happening like this. What format are you using to burn your CD's? Joliet? ISO-9660? I have tested AutoPlay on WIN 98 systems in the past and have had no troubles. What happens when you try to execute your menu by exploring the CD-ROM on the WIN 98 machine? Does the menu work properly if you execute it that way?

Yes, I am writing using ISO 9660-Joliet-ISO Level 1 - Max11-8+3. In the Win98 computers I can open in Explorer and and files will work all but the auto run. The same CD will work fine on WinMe and if in explorer can click autorun and it will work.

All is working great now. Found the problem and now fine. And guess really was even lucky to have read the CDs on the WinMe.
The problem was the Cd writing program I was using was setup for Multi Session CDs. Changed that and all is fine. Thank you for
your support and you do have a terrify product.
