Centering icons greyed out on differing pages?

Is it just me, or do the centering icons (located on the bottom left) work on some pages and not on others? I find this really strange. I have not used them often, but a recent post made me look into them and I found, if I click on the tabs of my project - the alignment icons disappear and reappear without any real regularity on different pages. Anyone else?

David,

Try clicking on one or more of the objects on that page. If nothing is selected then they're greyed out because it doesn't know which one(s) you want to center.

See if that makes a difference.

I have tried just hitting all the tabs at the bottom and cycling thru my project - not selecting anything and it toggles between grey out and useable - this is with nothing selected!!

Hi,
If you hover over the button that you are having problems with a ToolTip will come up, what does that ToolTip say? I only asking this because I am slightly unsure as to which button you are referring.

In the bottom left hand corner - the centering icons is which I am referring to.

Hi David,
Do you know what button(s) they are exactly? "Align Left?" "Align Horiz. Center?" "Center Vertical?" "Center Horizontal?"
If it is "Center Vertical" or "Center Horizontal" the reason that they are switching between grayed out and coloured is because certain pages will remember if you selected an object or not. So when you cycle using the tab certain pages will have object selected, enabling the buttons, and others will not have any object selected, disabling the buttons.

Ok, it is the dominant object icons that keep going off and on - not really sure how they work...sorry my mistake.
