Fonts not displaying properly

I've used 3.0 to make several CD intros. They all look great until I load them on other machines that don't have the same fonts installed. When doing so, the text comes up all messed up in a huge arial-type font. I checked the data directory on the cd and the fonts I used are there, but apparently they aren't working right. The fonts I'm using are TTF.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Are you using a font like: "Zephyr Bold" or "Zephyr Bold Italic"? If so "Zephyr Bold" is probably not being included in the DATA directory, instead "Zephyr" is. Then what appears to happen is the Bold "Function" is applied to the "Zephyr" font, but this looks different then the "Zephyr Bold" font. That is why it looks like some strange Arial font.
What you should do is type your text in a graphics program, save it as an image, and then import it into AutoPlay as an IMAGE OBJECT.

OK, I tried that and now I have a new problem. I exported all the text as .png graphics and gave them a transparent background.

Importing them into AMS, I chose the option for 'transparent background' and they went in beautiful. I checked it on three machines and it looked great.

Problem is when I showed it to our company president, the text graphics showed their background instead of being transparent. I checked more machines and 3 of 10 had this problem.

I see on the forum that this has happened with others, but didn't see much more of it after 10/2000.

Any ideas here?

Hi,
I noticed from another post that it seems like you do not have the newest version of AutoPlay v3.0.0.4, is this true? If so download the patch and see if this solves your problem.
You might also try exporting the PNG files without a transparent background; instead give the PNG file a solid background colour and make that colour transparent in AutoPlay.

The problem of "transparent" background not being transparent on certain machines is due to monitor setting.

If the colour chosen for background is from a 24 bit pallet (16+ millions of colours), then it will be visible on monitors set for 16 bit (65K)or 8 bit (256) colours, unless you happen to select a colour that is common to all pallets.

The safest procedure is to use white or black for background since these two colours are common to all pallets.
