Check Acrobat and Windows Media Player Version

I was curious on how to check the current version of both Acrobat and WMP the user has. I read DallasFreak's message on how to detect and install Acrobat, which work great! thanks. But it doesn't check for version number, please correct me if I am wrong. I am not that familiar with checking the registry for information and was wondering if some could fill me in on how to accomplish this. I would assume that what would work for Acrobat would also work for WMP.
