  • How to get 2 audio tracks running at 1 time

My narrations are AVI's (audio only). How can I start a music track (MP3?) at the begining of the session and have it play in the background while each AVI narrates.
Seem that when I launch the MP3, the AVI won't play?

    Hi,

There really is no way to get two audio tracks playing at the same time. It really depends on the person’s hardware; certain machines will play two sounds at the same time, while others will be unable to. As a result we suggest that people stick to playing one sound at a time.

You might try this. Create a wav file for your voice, and a separate wav file for your sound. Combine the files with a mixer. I use Cool Edit from syntrillium.com Play as a single wav file.

Yes, that will work, but I'm trying to run a tutorial where the user advances the pages. Upon advancing, the narration kicks in and runs. It is voice only, but I wanted to start a music track underneath the whole thing at the start so it would be independent of the voice track.

I just did a test to see if it was possible, and I was able to play an mp3 and an avi at the same time. The avi was a video and audio, not just audio, but the same rule should apply. Try running the narration as a wav file but through the avi object function (selecting a .wav instead of .avi file), or even just play it as a regular wav file. On my CD, I have an mp3 of Beethoven's Moonlight Symphony playing, but can still play the wav files from when I click on the buttons/links for the files or the next page. One of these three methods should work for you. Good luck.

I'm going to try Jito's method as well.
A note on the wav. I have changin pages as well.. and in order to make the music continue.. I took the wave for the whole music track and dropped the volume level down.. then did a fade in.. inserted the voice.. then a fade to zero.. then a fade in on the next section of the wave added the voice over and on. After I was done I saved the sections individually.. and so as you play each piece on each page you have a the backround music beginning at the end of the previous.. it does leave silence at the end of each section of the wav.

The other method of the backround mp3 would have the added advantage of being able to turn it off and not turn off the voice, and would be more simple to create.
