AVI's and CODECs

Is there an AVI coded that one can rely on being on all windows versions.
I don't want to have to install different codecs to make videos work.
I just would like to be sure that my AMS prog will run on all PC's.

Intel's Indio version 5.10 is on everything since Win95.

It may be on Windows 3.1 as well but I can't verify this.

Hello.

Actually, the following Codecs ship with Windows:

Intel Indeo (IR31 or IR32)
Supermatch Cinepak
Microsoft RLE (MS-RLE)
Microsoft Video 1 (MS-CRAM)

Intel 5.1 was not created when win95 came out. Codecs you find on your machine might be a result of additional hardware/software beyond the operating system.

do a search on this forum and extend the dates of the search and you will find lots and lots of stuff on codecs for use with AMS.
