  • Standalone Flash player; Which version from Macromedia?

I have visited the Macromedia site and find several versions of players for Shockwave, 8.0 and 8.5 and 8.51 with some discussion about some errors that come up when users have XP os as XP has Flash player loaded and wont let you load another.. etc

I dont see a flash only plyer.. ? is there one and What do AMS users load as a standalone player. Thanks in advance.

Generally, from what I gather on these forums (as I don't use Flash myself) is that most people take one of their .swf files and compile it into an exe, then play their flash files using that exe, calling it and using the other .swf files as an argument. Hope this helps.

If you are going to play a Flash animation in your AutoPlay menu, you will need the Stand Alone Flash player to save your .swf file as an .exe file and to then play that .exe file within your autoplay CD. I did not, however download my stand alone player from the Macromedia web site (cause I couldn't find it there). I found another source to download from. Can't remember what site, just to a internet search and you will eventually find it to download.

When you compile .swf files into projector files, is there a switch so that the end product does not show the "File-View-Control-Help" menu options?

I don't believe that is possible. Currently in AMS 3, you still need that player (and along with it's controls) in order to play a flash (.exe) sequence. I have managed to get around that by converting my .swf file to an .avi file and then inserting the AVI object into a page, so that it plays without the Media Player window opening. If you are using Macromedia, you should have the option to export your .fla file to Quicktime or AVI.
