Re: Reading Name from Reg
If you got your Registry actions to work in Preview mode, there is no reason not to believe that it will function any differently once you have burned, although you should of course test this function thoroughly, including a burned CD, before you distribute.

Re: Reading Name from Reg
Darryl thanks for your help, however it does show when I preview the project. Will it work once I burn the CD?
Thanks

Re: Reading Name from Reg
I was just responding to the basic structure question of Yets post, so I did not try it at the time, although I did try it and I did receive the same as you Jito463 on a Windows 2000 machine. DallasFreak may have some ideas on this one.

Re: Reading Name from Reg
I have a question. Maybe it's just my computer, but on my WinXP machine, that reg key only has the name "username". Not my actual log on name. Is this an NT thing? Any ideas?

Reading Name from Reg
I bit confused on how to have AMS read the user name from the registry. I have included DallasFreak's post but it does not seem to work??
What would be the "main key" and "sub key" in the read from registry option?
Thanks
Yets
New meaning to personalized menus...
have menu read from registry the following key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l
[data] Current User"
and sore it in %username%
Then on first page of menu, create text
"Welcome %username%, what would you like to do?"
It will dsplay the current logged on user's name
IE. Welcome dallasfreak, what would you like to do?

Reading Name from Reg
In his example you would have the following:
Main Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Sub Key: \System\CurrentControlSet\Control
Value: CurrentUser
Hope that helps.
