Re: Anybody ever notice this? BUG?

    Hi,

This problem occurs when your AutoPlay Menu is created on a computer with different colour depth, then the users computer. Basically if you make a certain colour (a shade of some sort) transparent on a system using True Colour, that same colour might not exist on a system that is running in 256 colours. Then AutoPlay will not find the colour, and therefore will not make anything transparent.

In order to avoid this problem make your transparent colour black (or some other “standard” colour). Once you do that you shouldn't have any problems.

    mark.

No, this is very much still a problem. We're getting transparent results on some machines and not on others. I've tried all supported formats and I agree that .png is the best for transparent results. It's just that we want the transparency to be consistent across all machines, OS's and video cards.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Now to be safe I will be composing ALL graphic elements and backgrounds(except some text) in Photoshop and importing as a JPEG.

Possibly this problem can be addressed in the upcoming release...

Are you able to import JPEG and BMP files with transparency?? I thought the only format that supported transparency (that AMS uses)is PNG.

Even when you create a PNG in Photoshop with a transparent background, when imported into AMS the background appears white until the transparent background check box is checked.

Have you tried this (using PNG with transparent background), or is this still a problem?

If you import a PNG image with an already tranparent background (and don't let AMS remove the background initially), will this still be a problem?

Moderators? Please advise, I've got my 1st big project in the works... I don't want to have any unnecessary issues. Thanks!

This has been a big problem for me as well. I spent a few thousand dollars on cd's that were fine on all the machines I tested on. I sent them to my client, and they told me about the transparency problem. I had to re-do them all. Whenever possible, I do this in my graphics editor and not use the transparent function in AMS. Please IR, see what can be done on this. It's a huge issue for us.

    Thanks a lot,

    Tony

I've seen this too. The problem seems to show up more on systems with lower end video cards.

I had the same problem awhile ago. What i do now is i try not to use the transparent option in AMS. I use Photoshop or some other program to edit my jpeg or bmp and then incorporate them into AMS. It is the only 100% way that it will look like the way you want. I have tried to use the same color for the transperent like "#000000" or "RGB--000" and then have that color be the transperent. Not 100%. So I just don't use the option in AMS.

    Anybody ever notice this? BUG?

After everything was done in our companys demo cd and even a few handed out, we noticed something odd while showing a client a demonstation on the cd.

The objects that were supppose to be transparent were not but yet on another computer they were. Strange it was, I finally found the problem but it didn't help much since it had to do with the 16 bit or 32 bit option in the display settings in winxp pro.

On 16 bit the objects would be transparent, on 32 bit they loose the transparency and show everything, I am not very sure on 16 or 32 bit and difference it makes but how can I fix this to work on everyones computer? And then again maybe my black backgroung isnt really black? Thank you for your help!
