Well I don't usually like to reply to myself, but I did find something out there in shareware land. It's called Custom Launcher 1.0, and it's here: http://www.montalcini.com/docs/files.html. It's not for the non-techie though - requires use of Regedit on the Mac. It did the job for me!

Mac AutoRun/AutoPlay Interface
Is there anything out there like AutoPlay Menu Studio for the Mac? All I need to do is bring up a splash screen with buttons that links to six different folders. When the user clicks on the button the folder will open. That's it?
