And you can always print out whatever you need from the HTML help or the whole manual if you choose.

I agree with all the points mentioned above. Good decision, Lorne.

Is there going to be a nice big detailed Users Manual with version 4.0?
    Yes and no.

There will be a much more detailed User's Guide, with a lot more information than the AutoPlay Menu Studio 3.0 User's Guide had. (A whole lot more.)

But, we recently decided to only supply this User's Guide in HTML Help format, and not to produce an actual printed manual.

There were several reasons for this change...but mostly:
    • A large printed manual (like Setup Factory 6.0's) increases the shipping costs quote a bit.
    • Many of users already choose the electronic-download-only option, so the lack of a printed manual doesn't seem to be a big deal.
    • The realities of printing costs means that we aren't able to keep a printed manual as up-to-date as we would like; the User's Guide for Setup Factory 6.0 is already somewhat outdated by the improvements we have made since the manual was printed.
    • Providing the user's guide in HTML Help format makes it much easier to keep the documentation up to date as the product evolves after release.
    • The interactive nature of HTML Help allows for things like pop-up examples and other niceties that aren't available in a printed text.

We considered providing the User's Guide in PDF format (like we do now), instead of authoring it in HTML Help alongside the Command Reference...but PDF is really only suitable for printing, and laying out such a document is no easy task. For most of our user's needs, we felt that HTML Help would be more useful.

So yes, there will be a big User's Guide...it just won't be a big heavy printed one.

Sorry. I wish we could say more, but we don't want to give too much away too soon for various reasons.

It's probably safe to say that one thing that really stands out for me so far is how easy it all still is...on the surface, it isn't any harder to use than 3.0--if anything, most things are a little bit easier. Hidden amidst all the cool and shiny new features that 4.0 will have, there are a lot of subtle little nudges and tweaks that add up to make the interface incredibly intuitive.

4.0 is shaping up to be a lot more powerful and a lot easier to learn and use than 3.0 was. It's really quite a feat.

Now you are just being mean. We have been on the edge of our seats for months now, waiting for the release of 4.0. I guess another month or two won't matter if we have waited this long already, and if it means we are going to get a product as good as you say.

I can't help but toss in a "oh man it's so cool!" too.

AMS4 blows me away more every day. I really can't wait to see what our power users are going to be able to pull off with this program once it's done.

There is no way to show embedded HTML windows in AMS30. Keep your eyes peeled for AMS40 this Summer. You HTML guys will be pleased.

Import html into a text box

    Hi,

I'm new to the Autoplay Menu, but have been around html for awhile. If I call a .html file in a text box, is it possible to make it show up as it would on the net....or will it always just show the code in the box?

I've created the whole layout of the CD in dreamweaver, and would like to be able to have the same look w/out having to retype, change colors, etc.

    Any recommendations would be welcomed.
Working...
