Automated builds

I would like to automate the build process, changing such things as version numbers and text to be displayed.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the general approach - should I experiment editing the (somewhat cryptic) .SF5 files, or should I try and control the program itself from another (Rational Test, for example).

Does anyone have any real life experience doing this?

Hi,
Sorry but there is no way to automate the build process in the ways that you would like to. The only way to change things like version numbers and the text to be displayed is to open up your Setup Factory project file, edit it, and rebuild your SETUP.EXE.

Patching the .sf5 seems to work just fine. But I haven't tried to change the lengths of any strings (haven't needed to).

In fact, the whole process is now automated quite nicely.

It would be helpful if you provided an "official" way to do it in the future, though.
