  • Creating an 'intelligent' autorun

I want to create a CD that runs setup the first time it is run and then when I insert the CD into my machine on subsequent occasssions (assuming installation was sucessfully completed) autoruns the main program and NOT the setup file again.

I'm not sure if this is something that Setup Factory can help with. Any direction would be greatfully appreciated.

    Thanks.

You cannot do this with Setup Factory alone, although if you use it along with one of our other products, AutoPlay Menu Studio, you can accomplish what you had in mind.

Roughly what you would need to do is launch your installation from your AutoPlay menu based on whether or not a value exists in the Registry. If it does not exist, you want to launch it.

In your installation you would place this value in the Registry so that next time, it will not be run again.

You would then do a file search for your program to find the path to the executable(if the user was given a choice of where they would like to install) You could then launch your program from your AutoPlay menu based on whether or not the installation was launched.

    Hope this helps.
