What you can do is set system files that are pre-installed on Windows 2000 not to install onto Windows 2000. All you need to do is go to the File Properties screen and deselect the Windows 2000 option on the Conditions tab. This is safe to do because Windows 2000 comes with all of the latest versions of the common system DLLs. Keep in mind that you will still need to re-distribute third-party DLLs that do not come with Windows 2000.

This would seem to be a big problem for software that updates common .DLL files. How do you get around this?

Setup Factory 5.0 runs fine on Windows 2000. One of the biggest catches is that Windows 2000 will not let ANY installer overwrite system files. If an installer tries to do this, things will seem to work until after the installation. The system will then "roll back" and reinstall the original system files. Just keep this in mind for your Win2K installs and you'll be set.

What release needed for Win 2000?

One customer of mine has told me the installation will not run on W2000. The release I have is about a year old. Is there an update to that release or any tips on running a setup under W2000?
