Re: The ordering of icons
OK I 've done some experiments and found that the ordering is really controlled by the alphebical order of the 'shortcut description'. It is always like this during my tring many times. Still I better get some confirmation.

Re: The ordering of icons
Kyle,
This is not a problem with Setup Factory, but rather an example of the control Windows gives the user over the look of their desktop/system.
If another installer "seemed" to give you this control, it was only temporary. Setup Factory can do the same thing by using the Shortcut Editor to create your shortcut icons. You can then create icons in any sequence you desire, but keep in mind that the Windows system can refresh and reorder that display at any time.
Hope this clears things up!

Hi,
Are you saying that this is a unique problem of Setup Factory or a universal thing? I did tried another installer without this problem. In my case so happened the Uninstall icon appear first...can't let that to happen. I guess this is a very important feature a installer got to have.

Re: The ordering of icons
The real problem here is that each user's system is different with respect to sorting shortcuts. There is no way to "fix" the position of an item, however many people have their shortcuts set to sort alphabetically. Of course others set that them to appear chronologically. The best choice is to put one "main" icon on the desktop and a few important links on the start menu.

The ordering of icons
Hi,
How to arrange the ordering of icons that would appear on the Windows Start/Programs menu? I certainly want the most important program exe to appear first, and the uninstall icon the last. It seems now that the ordering is quite unpredictable. Thanks.Tags: None
