  • Windows 2000 first time

    Hi,
My install has never been updated for either Win2K, ME or XP and I need to learn more about what the requirements are.

My app is VB6 so I have the usual runtime .dlls plus Crystal Reports runtimes (ones that come with VB6). I use DAO (2.5 I think). There are also two Dynazip .dlls and an XML .dll from VividCreations. That one has a small executable that my install runs to register it into the Windows System directory (for W95, 98 anyway). None of the .dlls go in my app dir at the moment. I also have a few fonts in case they aren't there and a handful of icons.

I guess I need to know where to find out which files I should not try to load on W2K, XP and ME and what should go into my app directory and so on. I have searched this forum and have found some information but not the complete story yet. MS websites are hard to find ANYTHING on. Can anyone help? Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm mostly interested in Win2K installations of VB6 apps using SF5. Where do VB runtime files go if at all, as well as the other stuff I mentioned. XP I can wait on for now.

      Can anyone advise. Thanks!
