  • Make shortcuts in subfolders

    Hello,

I have a huge list of pdf files to distribute. The files are in different subfolders. Installation of these files goes fine.
Now I want to create shortcuts to these pdf files. Here i'm stuck. All my shortcuts show up in one big list!

Question: How to create shortcuts in the startmenu, in the same subfolder structure as the pdf files?

    As in files:
    c:\publications\group1\pdf file1
    c:\publications\group1\pdf file2
    c:\publications\group2\pdf file1
    etc..

    Shortcuts:
    %SCFolderTitle%\group1\pdf file1 (name)
    %SCFolderTitle%\group1\pdf file2 (name)
    %SCFolderTitle%\group2\pdf file1 (name)

    Hi,

What version of Setup Factory are you using?

Basically you create the shortcuts exactly as you described them in your post. When you use the Create Shortcut action it should look something like this:

    Folder: %SCFolderTitle%\group1\
    Shortcut Description: pdf file1
    Target File: c:\publications\group1\pdf file1

    mark.

      Re: Make shortcuts in subfolders

      I'm using version 6.0.0.2

I was hoping for a easy way of adding the shortcuts. Not manually ad the links (close to 100). Also at 'target file', there's no browse. I have to work with copy and paste then..

I'm sure this could be easier. A good place would be ofcourse the 'shortcut'tab (at file prperties), where I was expecting it.

        Hi,

There is a "Browse" function: right-click in the Target field and select "Insert File Reference". This makes setting the targets very easy and quick.

Hopefully this functionality will speed this process up for you.
