Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Hi,
Simply type in the URL as your target.
So instead of your target being something like: "%AppDir%\MyProg.exe" it will be "http://www.indigorose.com"

Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Mark,
I think I've found a bug to do with url shortcuts.
If I put in "http://www.indigorose.com" it works fine.
However, if I put in my own home page, it fails. It fails by putting in a shortcut not to a 'browseable' web page, but by putting in a shortcut to my "Web Folders" collection. I'm running Win2000 and use FrontPage 2002, and any URL that has been edited in FrontPage is saved in the "Web Folders" folder. If you try to create a shortcut to one of these addresses, you don't get a url link.
I tested this by deleting one of the Web Folder aliases for the same site. The alias still in the Web Folder failed; the alias I had deleted worked as expected.

Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Only new to this & might be on the wrong path....
When I wanted my site in the app's start menu folder, I just copied it out of my *Favourite* folder, included it with the files when building, right clicked it, choose properties & told SF to make it a shortcut

Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Hi Falstaff,
How are you creating your shortcut? What is the web address that you are using? Perhaps you could explain in detail how you are crating your shortcut.

Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Hi Bushy,
What you should try (instead of copying an entry from your Favorites menu) is using the Create Shortcut action to create the shortcut to your website.
Give that a try and see what happens.

Re: URL in shortcut startmenue
Hi Mark.
I'm creating the startup url item using an "action after installing"
Create Shortcut(%SCFolderPath%\Online\Indelible Ink Home Page -> http://www.indelibleink.com)
The point is this: IF I have a "web folder" with a destination of "http://www.indelibleink.com" the created shortcut doesn't open the web page, it opens the web folder item, which opens an FTP connection. If I delete the address from web folders, then the exact same command (above) creates the expected url shortcut.
I am assuming the Web Folders folder got populated with internet addresses of destinations I have edited directly in FrontPage.

p.s. Version 6 is terrific. Last time I evaluated was V5 and it couldn't do some Registry reading I needed. I do believe I'll be switching to SF.
