  • Downloading Files Through Proxy

I have created an installer using v6.04 or whatever the latest is, but it does not contain any files in the executable they are all selectable component downloaded at runtime.

this has worked fine for over 2000 users but i have about 50 that are behind fire walls and cannot get the installer to work. i have tried setting proxy port to 8080 which seems to be a standard but still no success. can somebody help as the instructions for downloading and using proxies are somewhat vague

Tell me where your setup executable is???

I suppose, the installation is done over the net. Your clients have a LAN, and this puts them behind a proxy.

Thats tricky situation. please explain a bit more.

If your clients have only a proxy, most of the FTP programs can negotiate the connection.

In my opinion, your clients are behind a firewall and a proxy. The whole mess is created by the NATS.

Hope this is of some help

        Re: Downloading Files Through Proxy

hi more info on this problem,

they firstly download a base 450k installer from our website and then run that from wherever. it connects to the web and grabs zip files based on selected install components. i have reacently put out a version to some of our testers that allows them to specify all the proxy values, address, port, username and password and recieved the folowing report this morning:-

        ----------------------------------------
it tries to connect to our proxy on port 8080 - and it does succeed to some degree.
        However,
after the first 2 packets the checksum in the IP packets appear to be
        invalid,
which may be the reason why nothing more happens.
        -----------------------------------------

        any clues ??
